a.k.a. June Bug

Juney B, as she is most fondly called, is my dream horse! She is out of my beloved Ruby and by my heart horse, Ace. I've been waiting for five years now for a filly out of Ruby and I had pretty much given up on that. In all of her breeding history, she has always had colts. As a matter of fact my friend and fellow breeder of Harkaway Gypsies, and I have been joking for a couple of years now that if her mare, Tansy, and my Ruby both had fillies, we would meet in Chicago to celebrate. What a lucky couple of ladies we are. They both had fillies in 2008!
Juney has a wonderful personality, which is a good thing because I think this gal is going to be big. Her dam is a solid 15.3 hh and is as wide as a house. Juney is well on her way to look just like mom in stature. She got her name because as she was being born, a June bug landed on her nose and she let out a squeal. I had never really heard foals make any vocal noise while still being delivered but she did and she continued to tell us about it long after she was up and around. Her personality was evident before she took her first steps!
I'm afraid that even though many people have inquired about purchasing June Bug, I have decided to keep her. That decision was actually made as she was making her way into the world. Once I saw that she was black, I check under the hood to see if she was a filly or a colt as her back legs were just being delivered. I immediately stated that this one was a keeper. I did however, check for a couple more days to make sure I hadn't made a mistake on gender...lucky for me, she is still a filly!
Please check back often as new pictures of Juney will be posted as she grows up.
